Our precious Willow was a rescue through the Northern Chesapeake Sheltie Rescue, joining our family on September 15, 2010. Willow lived up to the Sheltie's reputation as a herding breed. She often herded her Mommy to wherever Willow wanted her to go.
Willow loved her treats! She also enjoyed going on "walkies," which often turned into "runnies" as she had a lot of ground to cover and mark. Rides in the car were also at the top of her list of fun excursions, although Willow often announced very loudly that she was in the car.
One of her favorite activities was to go outside on a quiet day and bark towards another home that had a dog and get that dog barking. Then she would move on to the next spot and repeat. On and on it went until Willow had all the dogs in the neighborhood barking and then with a look of satisfaction, she was ready to come back inside.
While Willow did not enjoy rain and the heat (due to her long coat of fur), she loved the cold temperatures and snow. She would enjoy laying in the snow like most dogs enjoy the sunshine. Willow did have a mind of her own and the facial expressions often reflected her disdain when we told her it was time to come inside because we felt it was too cold for her to be outside.
Willow was Mommy's girl; she had little need for her Daddy except when she wanted to be petted or mooch a snack. Willow also loved her back and tummy rubs.
Unfortunately, after 15 years of love and devotion to her family, on November 7, 2023, Willow decided it was time for her to cross the Rainbow Bridge. We know that Willow has joined her older brother (Lucky) and sister (Misty) and all three are waiting to greet us when we make the journey. In the meantime, we're sure that she's working hard to get all the dogs barking.
Loving memories from The Tooman's.
